Plant Based-Diet Resources

All the things listed above our great practices but unfortunately they are only band-aids.  The only way to ensure you don’t contribute to animal cruelty and the number one source of pollution in the world is to adopt a plant-based diet.

Below are resources and organizations to help adopt a plant-based diet

Resources

Organizations

  • Vegan Society
    • The Vegan Society provides advice, as well as campaigns on, ways of living free of animal products for the benefit of humans, other animals and the planet.
  • Black Vegans Rock
    • Black Vegans Rock is a new digital space that seeks to highlight and celebrate black vegans who are doing incredible work everyday.
  • Veg Fund
    • Provides grants to vegan activists to support their outreach efforts. We fund events worldwide that inspire people to choose and maintain a vegan lifestyle.
  • Fish Feel

Organizations to Donate and/or Volunteer with to Advocate for Farm Animal Welfare

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)

  • ASPCA was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world, which focuses on getting pets out of shelters and keeping them in homes, while increasing the protections of animals under the law.

Animal Equality

  • International farmed animal advocacy organisation that is dedicated to defending all animals through public education, campaigns and investigations. We work to create a more just and compassionate world for animals. We are currently active in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Animal Legal Defense Fund

  • Since 1979, the Animal Legal Defense Fund has fought to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. Founded by attorneys active in shaping the emerging field of animal law, ALDF has blazed the trail for stronger enforcement of anti-cruelty laws and more humane treatment of animals in every corner of American life

Animal Liberation Front (ALF)

  • An international, clandestine leaderless resistance that engages in illegal direct action in pursuit of animal rights. Activists see themselves as a modern-day Underground Railroad, removing animals from laboratories and farms, destroying facilities, arranging safe houses and veterinary care, and operating sanctuaries where the animals subsequently live.  Critics have classified them as terrorists.

Animal Welfare Institute (AWI)

  • Through engagement with policymakers, scientists, industry, and the public, AWI seeks to abolish factory farms, support high-welfare family farms, and achieve humane slaughter for animals raised for food, improve the housing and handling of animals in research, and encourage the development and implementation of alternatives to experimentation on live animals, and many other humane campaigns.

Center for Good Food Purchasing

  • Works to help institutions purchase food by creating a transparent and equitable food system built on five core values: local economies, health, valued workforce, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. The Center for Good Food Purchasing provides a comprehensive set of tools, technical support, and verification system to assist institutions in meeting their Program goals and commitments

Compassion in World Farming

  • Compassion in World Farming is a campaigning and lobbying animal welfare organization. It campaigns against the live export of animals, certain methods of livestock slaughter, and all systems of factory farming

Compassion Over Killing

  • Working on exposing the routine abuses forced upon animals raised for food and promotes vegetarian eating as a way to build a kinder world.  COK relies on an arsenal of strategies to speak out for animals that include undercover investigations inside factory farms, legal advocacy, airing 30-second pro-veg commercials on TV nationwide, working with corporations and restaurants to offer more vegan option, and so much more.

Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM)

  • Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) has been working since 1976 to take animals off of the menu across the world. We believe in the inherent self-worth of animals, as well as environmental protection and improved public health

Mercy for Animals

  • Mercy For Animals is dedicated to preventing cruelty to farmed animals and promoting compassionate food choices and policies through proactive consumer education initiatives, cruelty investigations, corporate outreach, and legal advocacy

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

  • Largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 5 million members and supporters. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in the food industry, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry.  PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Animal Charity Evaluators

We look to aid compassionate givers, professionals, and volunteers alike in making informed decisions on how to be as effective as possible in helping animals. We do this through researching to find which charities operate most effectively, as well as through recommending high-impact interventions to activists and charities alike.
